Your Impact & key responsibilities
In a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) SaaS (Software as a Service) company with a team of 40 engineers, 5-10 product managers, and 5 designers, the role of a Product Manager is pivotal for guiding the product development process and ensuring the product meets both market needs and business goals. The main responsibilities of a Product Manager in this context typically include:
- Product Strategy and Vision: Developing and articulating the product vision and strategy. This involves understanding market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape specific to CRM software.
- Roadmap Planning and Prioritization: Creating and managing the product roadmap, which includes prioritizing features, updates, and improvements based on business impact, customer value, and resource availability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with engineers, designers, sales, marketing, and customer support teams to ensure a cohesive approach to product development and launch. The product manager acts as a bridge between these different functions.
- Customer and Market Research: Conducting continuous customer and market research to identify new opportunities and understand user needs. This might involve user interviews, surveys, and analysis of customer feedback.
- Feature Definition and User Stories Creation: Defining features and writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria to guide the engineering and design teams. This requires a deep understanding of user needs and how to translate them into functional product features.
- Backlog Management and Iteration Planning: Managing the product backlog and working with the engineering team to plan sprints and iterations, ensuring that work is well-defined and aligned with the product roadmap.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Using data and analytics to inform product decisions and measure the impact of new features and changes. This involves setting and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for the product.
- User Experience and Design Oversight: Collaborating with the design team to ensure the product offers a compelling user experience and interface, which is crucial in SaaS products.
- Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicating with internal stakeholders, including leadership and cross-functional teams, about product plans, progress, and performance. This requires translating technical details into business-relevant information.
- Compliance and Standards Adherence: Ensuring the product adheres to industry standards and regulatory requirements, especially those relevant to data security and privacy in CRM systems.

“Today, more than ever, we have the opportunity to work with people from all over Europe without seeing them in real. With these new facilities, they are now able to gather in one place, and share more than just meetings. The relationships between colleagues will be stronger, their commitment to our success will be bigger. We know it’s a disruptive concept. But we’ve seen some very positive effects already,” says Cédric Pierrard, efficy co-founder.
